MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation

Hey guys. It's been a while since I've updated this thing. I've just been so busy with school and starting the new job that I haven't had much time to actually sit down and do a review or haul even though I HAVE been shopping (probably a little too much).

I know Candy isn't a foundation wearer (I am) but I'm hoping this gets her interested (lol) as well as shedding some light on my latest buy. So I went into MAC a few days ago seeking a tinted moisturizer or their Face and Body foundation which is supposed to be pretty light and gives very sheer coverage. I have both the MAC Studio Tech and Studio Sculpt (which I love) but they are both a bit 'much' for every day use and I have to do too much in order for it to look 'natural' (bronzing, sculpting etc). They didn't have my shade in the tinted moisturizer and they don't stock Face and Body at the counters. The MAC MUA was kind enough to actually sit me down and test out a few others (she was extremely patient lol) even though I was very undecided about what I wanted and they were actually very busy that day.

She tried both the Mineralised Satin Foundation as well as the Select SPF 15 foundation on me and explained how both worked. I LOVE the look of the Select because the Satin Finish was a bit to 'glittery' and I dreaded having to look like a glitterball walking around during the day.

The foundation is very light, easy to blend and the shade matches perfectly (NC44). It's a water based foundation, contains SPF 15 (always a good thing) and leaves you with a very natural finish. What I love about it is that it doesn't irritate my skin (no break-outs woohoo!), it allows my natural skin to show through (it doesn't blank me out or give me that 'dead' washed out look) and with a little setting powder it looks completely fresh and natural yet polished.

So far, I have no cons. I'll give it a wear this week and show how it holds up when I'm being active during the day. This foundation actually didn't recieve very high ratings on other review boards but I have no problem with it yet. Let's see what this week brings. So expect an update and *maybe* pictures!

ELF haul (:

L-R: Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (Black), Liquid Eyeliner (plum), Eyelid Primer, All Over Color sticks in Spice and Honey Candy Shop Lip Gloss in Coconut Craze and Berry Pop, Super Glossy Lip Shine in Angel, Iced latte and Mauve Luxe
Eye stuff: Brightening Eye Color (quad) in Punk Funk
L-R: Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Sugar Cookie, Coffee & Cream, Berry Mix
Duo Eyeshadow (powder): Butter Pecan, Olive

You may have heard of them. Makeup brand ELF (eyeslipsface) is famous for its inexpensive line of cosmetics that, I must say, work as well as the more costly brands on the market. If you're on Facebook do a search for them. My local branch (ELFUK)has been treating 'fans' to goodies every time they hit a certain number of subscribers on the fan page. Their recent offer was for free shipping on orders over 10GBP as well as a free set of super glossy lip shines on any order (how could a gal refuse).

Now I'll have to do individual reviews on these products as I believe that each one is unique and deserves a chance in the spotlight. I must say however that I love most of these products especially the primer, the lip glosses (all of them) and the cream shadows (I haven't had much of a chance to use anything else as yet. I'm not a fan of the color sticks but then again I don't use them that much. I'll give the products a try over the coming week and report back with my findings. Til then, peace love and lipgloss!!!

A good ole cuppa (or not)

I’m  a caffeine junkie. Big time. I’m one of those people that gets grumpy until I have my morning coffee and when that happens, I’m all sunshine and happy happy joy joy (ok..not true...I’m slightly less grumpy that I was when I got up at whatever obscene hour in the morning lol). The thing is we all know this: Coffee is not good for you! It’s bad for your skin, it’s bad for your teeth, it makes you jittery...no I’m not going corroborate this because the mere fact that you’re reading this blog means you have access to google;-)...but I digress.
So I’ve been intending to wean myself off coffee. It shouldn’t be hard. I’ve actually done it before and my body and skin thanked me for it. How you ask? Simple, I replaced it with green tea (hello! Anti-oxidants...and in my case an accelerated metabolism) and actually had no problem doing it. Of course, I slipped off the health nut wagon a few years ago and my bad habits came rushing back in. But I’m getting older and as my metabolism was never good to me in my teens and early adulthood, I hardly expect it to get any better when I hit the big 3-0. So yes, I am hopping back onto the healthier lifestyle wagon.
And this starts with tea.
Dr. Stuart’s Detox Tea that is.
Ingredients listed: Dandelion root, Burdock root, milk thistle, Liquorice root, Peppermint, Ginger root, sage, Galangal root, Artichoke leaves
Sounds good?
This thing tastes like the worst thing you’ve ever tasted ten times over!!!!!
Accustomed to sipping you tea? I am. Until I met this good ole cuppa. You’ll want to gag. You’ll want to throw it out. You’ll want to eat healthier because the thought of taking this thing makes you retch! (A big shout out to Candy for making me her guinea pig)
Get past the taste and you’ll love what it does. Clearer skin; A ‘cleaner’ internal feel (no it doesn’t make you pay homage to the porcelain god)
I bought this a month ago. I’m on my second cup (*sigh*) I could swear I had at least 3 cups of this thing before but the box of 20 bags now registers 18. Oh well!
Can I interest you in a cuppa tea?

Scent-sation: Top 5 favorite scents for a Night on the Town!

I have an OBSESSION with smells. I believe that a girl can never have too many perfumes...EVER! If anyone is ever stuck about what to get me for my birthday or Christmas I would not so subtly point them in the way of a new perfume I'd like to get and yes...I'd make them wrap it and get all excited when I open it lol. Here are my top five scents for going out:)

Elizabeth Arden Provocative Woman
A very light floral scent that is as sensual as the name sounds. I'm not in to flowery scents but this one is so subtle that you hardly notice it.

Lapidus Woman by Ted Lapidus
This has been around since 2001 but I keep repurchasing it because its smells so good! It's the one fragrance that has people inquiring about what you're wearing because they want to get it too. It is described as having: A breeze of fresh and sweet bergamot and freesia caresses us at the beginning. The heart is floral, consisted of cyclamen, orange blossom and jasmine. Base notes bring accords of patchouli, vanilla, musk and amber.

J'adore by Christian Dior
Oh J'adore! How I adore thee! The sexiness of the bottle, the sensuality of the smell...this is my POWER perfume! The one that says...I am WOMAN and I have come to rule the world

Armani Code by Giorgio Armani
My scent of seduction, this one contains a blend of italian orange, absolute, sambac jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla, honey and bitter orange guaranteed to have them sniffing and howling at the wind!

Miss Dior Cherie by Christian Dior is my # 1 sexy smell. I LOVE it!!!! It is the modernized version of John Galliano's Miss Dior and it is sexiness in a bottle!
With a citrusy freshness and a jasmine heart sprinkled with fruity notes, underscored by the elegance of patchouli, it has definitely become a new classic!

Enjoy!

Wishlist *Beauty* - Very Hollywood by Michael Kors

I won't lie to you I want this perfume based on it's packaging. It looks so...............glamorous. It retails for $80 and above but to be honest with you I prefer to get the gift sets. IMO you get more for your money. Let's just hope it smells as good as it looks ;)

Wishlist *Beauty* -Clarisonic

Yes I want it! Now I'm sure you've all heard the hype Clarisonic this Clarisonic that. Hell I want Clarisonic too :( This product received great reviews on makeup alley and youtube. Although it is expensive they say it's worth the price. *shrugs* I don't know if I'm ready to shell out $195 + tax on a spinning brush but I am curious. According to the description below this is what I've wanted and more. Now I owned a brush similar to the Clarisonic years ago I beleive it was by Revlon. It basically had the same claims as the Clarisonic but it didn't live up to my expectations. Yes it cleaned but I never felt like I had that deep clean. So I want to try this one out and see if it does what it says. If so I guess it's worth the investment so we'll see.
